Description

This event tracks whether a significant earthquake will occur on a specific date, determined by geological monitoring data. It assesses seismic activity levels against predefined thresholds to establish outcomes.

Kalshi

All markets resolve based on the highest earthquake magnitude reported by the USGS during September 19, 2026, from midnight to midnight UTC. A market resolves to 'Yes' if this magnitude meets or exceeds the threshold specified in its primary rule—ranging from 5.2 to 7.0. The determining magnitude is the USGS-reported value at expiration, with moment magnitude (Mw) taking precedence when available. If multiple earthquakes share the highest magnitude, all qualify. If USGS ComCat data is unavailable at expiration, settlement may be delayed per contract contingencies.
