This event tracks whether a significant earthquake will occur on a specific date, determined by measurements from a trusted geological authority. It assesses the possibility of seismic activity reaching certain strength levels during a defined 24-hour period.
All markets resolve based on whether the highest earthquake magnitude reported by the USGS anywhere in the world during September 13, 2026 (from 12:00:00 AM to 11:59:59 PM UTC) meets or exceeds the threshold specified in each market’s primary rule, ranging from 5.2 to 7.0. The magnitude used for settlement is the USGS-reported value displayed at expiration, with moment magnitude (Mw) taking precedence over other magnitude types if available. If multiple earthquakes share the highest magnitude, all such events count toward satisfying the condition. If the USGS ComCat database is unavailable at the time of expiration, settlement may be delayed according to the contract’s contingency provisions. The outcome for each market depends solely on whether at least one earthquake reaches its specific magnitude threshold during the specified date and time window.
