Description

This market will resolve according to the total precipitation in mm at Heathrow (London Airport) in July, 2026, according to the Met Office. If the reported value falls exactly between two brackets, then this market will resolve to the higher range bracket. The resolution source for this market will be the Met Office, specifically the figure for July 2026 under "rain mm" at the https://www.metoffice.gov.uk/pub/data/weather/uk/climate/stationdata/heathrowdata.txt link once the Provisional figure for the whole month of July 2026 is released. If the relevant data is not available by October 7, 2026, 11:59 PM ET, another credible resolution source will be chosen. The resolution source for this market measures precipitation to 1 decimal place (e.g., 1.5), thus, this is the level of precision that will be used when resolving this market. Any revisions to precipitation recorded after Provisional data is released for this market's timeframe will not be considered for this market's resolution.

Frequently asked questions

The London July precipitation market dashboard on Polymarket tracks real-time odds and trading activity for whether measurable rainfall will occur in London during July. The interface displays current market prices, historical price movements, and 24-hour volume to help traders monitor sentiment around this weather outcome. By following the London July precipitation market, you can see how traders are pricing the probability of precipitation across the month, updated continuously as new information and trades flow in.

Prediction market odds reflect real-time trader consensus and often incorporate a broader range of data than traditional forecasts. While meteorological analysts rely on historical climate patterns and seasonal models, this market aggregates the collective judgment of participants who have financial incentive to be accurate. Comparing the two reveals whether traders are pricing in more or less precipitation risk than official forecasts suggest, offering a complementary perspective on July weather expectations for London.

On Polymarket, this market is priced through an automated market maker that converts trader buy and sell orders into real-time probability quotes. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. Traders purchase shares representing "yes" or "no" outcomes, and the price of each share reflects the market's implied odds. As trading volume increases or new information emerges, prices adjust dynamically to reflect updated expectations about London's July precipitation.

This market resolves around Jul 31, 2026, once the month of July concludes and precipitation data becomes verifiable. The outcome is determined by whether measurable rainfall occurred in London during that period, confirmed against credible public weather records and official reporting. Traders holding the winning outcome receive their payout once the result is finalized and the market settles.

Major weather pattern shifts, seasonal climate forecasts, and real-time meteorological alerts can all influence trading in this market. If forecasters issue warnings of unusually dry or wet conditions ahead, traders may adjust positions accordingly. Additionally, early July precipitation data itself will shape expectations for the remainder of the month, causing prices to shift as the outcome becomes clearer. Broader climate anomalies or atmospheric patterns affecting Northern Europe could also trigger significant repricing.
