This market will resolve to the temperature range that contains the lowest temperature recorded at the Tokyo Haneda Airport Station in degrees Celsius on 8 Jul '26. The resolution source for this market will be information from Wunderground, specifically the lowest temperature recorded for all times on this day for the Tokyo Haneda Airport Station, available here: https://www.wunderground.com/history/daily/jp/tokyo/RJTT. To toggle between Fahrenheit and Celsius, click the gear icon next to the search bar and switch the Temperature setting between °F and °C. This market can not resolve until the first data point for the following date has been published on the resolution source. The resolution source for this market measures temperatures to whole degrees Celsius (eg, 9°C). Thus, this is the level of precision that will be used when resolving the market. Revisions to temperatures recorded within this market's timeframe will be considered until the first datapoint for the following date has been published, after which any alterations will not be considered.

Prediction market odds often diverge from traditional weather forecasts because they incorporate real-time trader behavior, incentives, and information flow. While meteorologists publish deterministic or probabilistic forecasts based on atmospheric models, this market aggregates the beliefs of many participants with financial skin in the game. Traders may weight recent data, historical patterns, or emerging weather systems differently than official forecasts do. Comparing the implied probability in this market to published analyst predictions can reveal where the crowd sees additional risk or opportunity, though both approaches have distinct strengths in capturing temperature uncertainty.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through an automated market maker (AMM) mechanism where traders buy and sell outcome shares directly against a liquidity pool. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The price of each outcome contract reflects supply and demand; as more traders buy a particular temperature range, its price rises and implied probability increases. Your cost to buy or sell shares depends on the current pool ratio and the size of your trade. This continuous pricing model allows for real-time discovery and means the market can adjust rapidly as new weather data or forecasts emerge before resolution.
This market resolves around Jul 8, 2026, once July 8 has passed and the lowest temperature in Tokyo can be verified. The outcome is confirmed against credible public sources reporting the actual minimum temperature recorded that day. Traders holding shares in the correct outcome range receive their payout, while incorrect positions expire worthless. The resolution process is deterministic and based on observable, historical weather data, ensuring all participants can independently verify the result.
Several catalysts can shift odds in this market before Jul 8, 2026. Updated seasonal weather forecasts, tropical storm or heat wave warnings, and shifts in atmospheric pressure patterns may prompt traders to reprrice their positions. Real-time meteorological model runs released days or hours before July 8 often trigger sharp repricing as new data arrives. Historical temperature anomalies for that date and time of year can also influence expectations. Additionally, major climate or weather news—such as unusual jet stream behavior or El Niño updates—may cause traders to adjust their conviction, leading to visible volume spikes and price movement.
