Prediction market odds reflect real-money bets from traders worldwide, often incorporating weather models, historical data, and expert analysis faster than traditional forecasts update. Unlike static analyst predictions, this market reprices continuously as new information emerges. Comparing the odds here to published meteorological forecasts can reveal where the crowd sees risk differently from official models. Markets tend to aggregate dispersed knowledge efficiently, though they can occasionally diverge from consensus if traders spot overlooked signals or discount certain scenarios more aggressively than experts do.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through an automated market maker that converts trader positions into real-time probabilities. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. Each outcome has its own contract, and the price of each reflects the collective belief of all traders at that moment. As traders buy or sell contracts, the odds shift dynamically. The top outcome currently reflects strong conviction among participants, though prices can move sharply if weather forecasts update or new data surfaces before the resolution date.
This market resolves around Jul 12, 2026, once July 12 has passed and the lowest temperature in Tokyo for that day is verifiable from credible public sources. The outcome is determined by comparing actual recorded temperatures against the contract thresholds traders have bet on. Resolution is automatic once the data is confirmed, and all positions settle according to which outcome occurred. Traders should monitor official weather reporting channels as the date approaches to anticipate how final conditions might affect their positions.
Major weather model updates, seasonal pattern shifts, or unexpected atmospheric conditions could significantly alter odds in this market. Tropical systems, heat waves, or cold fronts affecting Japan would trigger repricing as traders adjust their forecasts. Real-time meteorological alerts and official Japan Meteorological Agency announcements typically drive the largest moves. Additionally, historical temperature data releases or shifts in long-range forecasts can influence trader sentiment. As the date draws closer, intraday weather reports become increasingly influential, often causing sharp volatility in the final days before resolution.
