Prediction market odds on Polymarket often diverge from traditional meteorological forecasts and analyst predictions. While weather agencies rely on physics-based models and historical data, prediction markets incorporate trader sentiment, recent weather patterns, and real-time information flow. Markets may price in tail risks or consensus shifts faster than official forecasts update. Comparing Polymarket implied probabilities to published forecasts from China's meteorological authority or international weather services can reveal where traders see asymmetric value or where expert models and market expectations align or diverge.
On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. On Polymarket, this event is priced through binary or range-based outcome contracts that traders buy and sell to express their views on Shanghai's lowest temperature on June 7. The current market price reflects the aggregate belief of all participants. As new information emerges—such as seasonal forecasts, atmospheric patterns, or real-time weather data—traders adjust positions, moving the price up or down. The implied probability of each outcome is derived from the order book depth and recent trade prices, giving you a snapshot of market conviction at any moment.
The market resolves on Jun 7, 2026, after the close of June 7 in Shanghai. Resolution is determined by the actual lowest temperature recorded on that date, measured according to official meteorological standards. Once the official data is published and verified, the outcome is settled and traders' positions are finalized. The exact temperature threshold or range that defines each outcome option is specified in the market's contract terms, ensuring all participants have clarity on how their positions will be adjudicated.
Several factors could shift market prices for Shanghai's lowest temperature on June 7. Major weather pattern changes—such as monsoon onset timing, tropical cyclone activity, or high-pressure system positioning—will influence trader expectations. Updated seasonal forecasts from meteorological agencies and real-time atmospheric data releases can trigger repricing. As June 7 approaches, daily weather updates and short-range model consensus will become more precise, allowing traders to refine their positions. Unusual heat waves or cold snaps in the region, or shifts in El Niño conditions, may also move the market as participants adjust their temperature forecasts.
