Prediction markets like this one often diverge from traditional weather forecasts because they incorporate real-money incentives and continuous price discovery. While meteorological agencies publish deterministic temperature ranges based on atmospheric models, traders in this market price in uncertainty, tail risks, and late-breaking data. The odds reflect what participants are willing to stake, not just model outputs. Comparing the current market consensus to official forecasts from Korea Meteorological Administration can reveal whether traders are pricing in more or less downside risk than experts publicly project.
This market resolves around Jun 28, 2026, once June 28 has passed and the lowest temperature in Seoul can be verified. The outcome is determined by comparing the actual recorded minimum temperature against the threshold specified in the market contract. Verification draws from credible public weather data sources to confirm the final result. Once the event is observable and confirmed, the market settles automatically and traders receive payouts based on whether their position matched the realized outcome.
Several factors could shift odds in this market before Jun 28, 2026. Major weather pattern changes—such as unexpected cold fronts, shifts in the jet stream, or tropical systems—would trigger repricing. Updates from meteorological forecasts, seasonal climate indices, and real-time atmospheric data releases typically move prices. Political or industrial events affecting Seoul's local climate (rare but possible) could also matter. As the date approaches, intraday weather models become more precise, often causing sharp volatility. Traders monitoring these signals continuously adjust positions, so watch for forecast revisions and atmospheric alerts.
