Prediction market odds reflect decentralized trader sentiment and financial incentives, whereas traditional weather forecasts rely on meteorological models and expert analysis. This market aggregates the views of many participants with real money at stake, often capturing emerging consensus faster than static forecasts. However, analyst predictions from national weather services remain the authoritative baseline for comparison. Both approaches offer value: markets excel at pricing uncertainty and shifting conditions, while meteorologists provide physics-based reasoning and historical accuracy metrics.
This market resolves around Jun 18, 2026, once June 18 has passed and Seoul's lowest temperature for that day is verifiable from credible public reporting. The outcome is determined by comparing the actual recorded minimum temperature against the threshold specified in the market. Resolution occurs automatically once the data is confirmed, and all shares are settled according to whether the condition was met.
Weather model updates and seasonal forecasts are primary drivers of price movement in this market. Major atmospheric patterns—monsoon onset timing, high-pressure systems, or tropical disturbances—can shift expectations significantly. Real-time meteorological alerts, changes in long-range ensemble forecasts, and historical temperature anomalies for early June all influence trader positioning. As the event date approaches, short-range forecasts become more reliable and often trigger sharp repricing. Breaking news about unusual weather systems or climate anomalies can also trigger sudden volatility.
