Prediction market odds reflect real-money bets from traders worldwide, often incorporating meteorological models, historical data, and seasonal patterns that professional analysts also consider. Unlike static forecasts, this market reprices continuously as new information arrives—such as updated weather models or atmospheric conditions. Analyst predictions tend to be published at fixed intervals, whereas market odds adjust dynamically. Both sources draw on similar underlying climate science, but the market's incentive structure rewards accuracy with financial gain, sometimes creating divergence from consensus forecasts depending on trader conviction and available liquidity.
This market resolves around Jul 4, 2026, once July 4 has passed and the lowest temperature recorded in Seoul becomes verifiable from credible public sources. The outcome is determined by comparing actual weather data against the contract specifications—in this case, whether the minimum temperature matches the predicted threshold. Resolution typically occurs within hours or a day after the event, once meteorological records are finalized and confirmed. Traders' positions settle based on whether their chosen outcome occurred, with winnings distributed to those who correctly predicted the temperature range.
Major weather pattern shifts, updated seasonal forecasts, or anomalous atmospheric conditions could significantly move odds in this market. Real-time developments such as tropical systems, heat waves, or cold fronts approaching East Asia would prompt traders to reassess their positions. Climate indices like the monsoon forecast or El Niño status may also influence trading activity. As July 4 approaches, each new meteorological model run or official weather advisory could trigger repricing. Historical temperature records for Seoul in early July and any unusual global weather events will likely drive trader sentiment and market movement closer to resolution.
