Prediction market odds on Polymarket reflect real-money consensus from traders betting on Paris's lowest temperature on May 31. Analyst forecasts from meteorological services and climate models typically focus on mean or median temperatures rather than daily lows. Markets often price in tail-risk scenarios and uncertainty more explicitly than traditional forecasts. Comparing the implied probability of extreme cold or mild outcomes on Polymarket to seasonal climate models reveals whether traders expect conditions outside historical norms or consensus expectations for late May in Paris.
On Polymarket, the lowest temperature in Paris on May 31 is priced through outcome tokens representing discrete temperature ranges or specific thresholds. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. Traders buy and sell shares in each outcome, with prices reflecting the probability of that range occurring. Order-book depth and recent trades determine spreads and liquidity. As May 31 approaches, prices adjust based on updated weather models, seasonal patterns, and real-time trading flow. The market aggregates dispersed information from meteorologists, climate enthusiasts, and weather-focused traders into a single price per outcome.
The market resolves on May 31, 2026, after the lowest temperature in Paris on May 31, 2026, has been recorded and verified. Resolution depends on official temperature data from a designated meteorological source, typically France's national weather service or an internationally recognized station in Paris. The exact threshold or range that determines each outcome is specified in the market's terms at creation. Once the official low temperature for that calendar day is confirmed, the corresponding outcome token is marked correct and traders holding winning shares receive their payout.
Major weather pattern shifts, seasonal climate forecasts, and updated meteorological models will drive price movement on Polymarket. A predicted cold front or heat dome over Europe in late May could significantly reprrice odds. Long-range weather outlooks released by European weather centers, anomalies in Atlantic ocean temperatures, and jet-stream positioning all influence trader expectations. As May approaches, daily and weekly forecasts become more precise, tightening ranges and shifting conviction. Historical May temperature records and any unusual atmospheric conditions reported in spring will also prompt traders to reassess probabilities before resolution.
