Prediction market odds on Polymarket reflect real-money trader expectations and often diverge from traditional meteorological forecasts issued by weather agencies and climate analysts. While meteorologists rely on physics-based models and historical data, prediction markets incorporate trader beliefs, recent weather patterns, and broader climate signals. By June 6, 2026, professional weather forecasts will be available from sources like Météo-France and the European Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts. Comparing Polymarket odds to these official forecasts can reveal whether traders are pricing in more or less extreme outcomes than experts predict.
On Polymarket, the lowest temperature in Paris on June 6 is priced through a set of outcome contracts, each representing a specific temperature range or threshold. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. Traders buy and sell shares in each outcome, with the price of each share reflecting the collective probability assigned to that temperature band. As traders update their views based on seasonal forecasts, climate patterns, and real-time weather developments, prices adjust continuously. The outcome that resolves to true will pay out at full value, while all others expire worthless, creating a direct incentive for accurate pricing.
The market resolves on Jun 6, 2026, after the lowest temperature in Paris on June 6, 2026, has been recorded and verified. The outcome is determined by official meteorological data from the designated weather station or authority responsible for Paris temperature records. Once the actual minimum temperature is confirmed, the corresponding outcome contract is marked as true and eligible for payout, while all other temperature ranges are marked false. Resolution typically occurs within hours or days of the event date, depending on data availability and verification procedures.
Several factors could shift odds on Polymarket before Jun 6, 2026. Seasonal climate forecasts and long-range weather models released in the months leading up to June 6 will influence trader expectations. Major atmospheric patterns—such as heat waves, cold fronts, or unusual jet-stream behavior—could alter probabilities significantly. Real-time weather updates in early June will be the most impactful catalyst, as traders incorporate short-term forecasts. Additionally, broader climate anomalies, ocean temperature patterns, and solar activity discussions may sway sentiment. As the event date approaches, professional meteorological forecasts will become increasingly precise and drive market repricing.
