Prediction market odds often diverge from traditional meteorological forecasts because they incorporate real-time trader behavior, media attention, and broader sentiment alongside expert models. While weather agencies publish deterministic or probabilistic forecasts based on atmospheric science, this market reflects what participants are willing to stake on specific temperature outcomes. Comparing the two reveals whether the crowd is more bullish or bearish than official guidance, though both sources draw from similar underlying data. Over time, markets tend to converge toward accuracy as new information arrives.
On Polymarket, traders set prices by buying and selling shares that represent outcomes—in this case, different temperature bands for the lowest reading on June 29. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The price of each outcome reflects supply and demand; higher prices indicate stronger belief in that outcome occurring. Shares are fractional and priced between 0 and 1, where 1 represents certainty. As new weather models, forecasts, or real-world conditions emerge, traders adjust positions, moving prices to reflect updated expectations.
This market resolves around Jun 29, 2026, once June 29 has passed and the lowest temperature in Paris can be verified. The outcome is confirmed against credible public reporting from established meteorological sources. Once the actual low temperature is recorded and reported, the market settles to reflect which outcome bracket was correct. Traders holding shares in the winning outcome receive their payout, while other positions expire worthless.
Major weather model updates, seasonal forecasts, and real-time atmospheric data releases will shift trader positioning as June 29 approaches. Heat waves, cold fronts, or unusual pressure systems over Europe can trigger sharp repricing. Media coverage of extreme weather patterns may also influence participation and conviction. As the date draws closer, intraday temperature trends and overnight lows in the preceding days will provide concrete signals that traders use to refine their bets, potentially causing volatility in final hours before resolution.
