Prediction market odds often diverge from traditional meteorological forecasts because they incorporate real-time trader conviction and uncertainty pricing. While weather analysts publish point estimates or confidence intervals based on atmospheric models, this market aggregates the collective judgment of participants who have financial incentive to predict accurately. Comparing the implied probabilities here to published forecasts from national weather services can reveal where traders see model risk or disagreement among experts, making the market a useful cross-check against institutional predictions.
This market resolves around Jul 2, 2026, once the lowest temperature recorded in Paris on July 2 is verifiable from credible public sources. The outcome is determined by comparing actual meteorological readings against the temperature thresholds defined in each contract. Traders holding shares in the outcome that matches the verified temperature will receive their payout, while other positions expire worthless. Resolution typically occurs within hours of the close of the trading day once official data is published.
Major weather model updates, seasonal pattern shifts, or unexpected atmospheric systems could significantly move prices in this market. Real-time temperature observations in the days leading up to July 2 will anchor trader expectations, while any revision to long-range forecasts may trigger repricing. Unusual heat waves or cold snaps affecting Western Europe could also shift conviction. Additionally, as the event date approaches, the market typically becomes more reactive to short-term meteorological bulletins and overnight low forecasts, compressing uncertainty and sharpening price discovery.
