Prediction market odds reflect real-money incentives for accuracy, often incorporating meteorological forecasts and historical data faster than traditional analyst consensus. While weather forecasters rely on numerical models and satellite imagery, this market aggregates the collective judgment of traders who profit or lose based on the actual lowest temperature. Comparing the market's implied probability to published forecasts from national weather services can reveal where traders see value or risk. Both sources are useful: analysts provide detailed reasoning, while market odds distill that information into a single probability that traders are willing to bet on.
This market resolves around Jul 10, 2026, once the lowest temperature recorded in Paris on July 10 can be verified from credible public sources. The outcome is determined by the actual meteorological data for that date, typically confirmed through official weather station records. Resolution occurs after sufficient time has passed for data to be finalized and cross-checked. Traders holding shares in the correct outcome receive their winnings, while incorrect positions expire worthless. The specificity of the temperature threshold means only one outcome will be correct.
Major weather pattern shifts, seasonal forecasts, and updated climate models can significantly influence trading activity in this market. As July 10 approaches, meteorologists release more precise short-range forecasts that traders incorporate into their positions. Unusual heat waves or cold snaps affecting Europe in the weeks prior may prompt traders to reassess their probability estimates. Real-time atmospheric data, jet stream positioning, and any anomalous weather systems developing over France will drive price movements. Additionally, traders may adjust positions based on historical temperature patterns for that date and any breaking news about extreme weather systems approaching the region.
