This event group asks what the lowest temperature in Miami will be on July 4, 2026. Kalshi frames it as a yes/no on whether the minimum temperature falls below specific thresholds, while Polymarket structures it as a series of temperature range buckets. Both use official weather data sources to determine the outcome.
This market will resolve to the temperature range that contains the lowest temperature recorded at the Miami Intl Airport Station in degrees Fahrenheit on 4 Jul '26. The resolution source for this market will be information from Wunderground, specifically the lowest temperature recorded for all times on this day for the Miami Intl Airport Station, available here: https://www.wunderground.com/history/daily/us/fl/miami/KMIA. To toggle between Fahrenheit and Celsius, click the gear icon next to the search bar and switch the Temperature setting between °F and °C. This market can not resolve until the first data point for the following date has been published on the resolution source. The resolution source for this market measures temperatures to whole degrees Fahrenheit (eg, 21°F). Thus, this is the level of precision that will be used when resolving the market. Revisions to temperatures recorded within this market's timeframe will be considered until the first datapoint for the following date has been published, after which any alterations will not be considered.
Resolution is based on the minimum temperature recorded at Miami on July 3, 2026, according to the National Weather Service's Climatological Report (Daily), accessed via the Miami station. The official data source is the NWS daily climate report available at https://www.weather.gov/wrh/Climate?wfo=mfl under the Observed Weather tab. Temperature ranges are divided into six bands: 73°F or below, 74-75°F, 76-77°F, 78-79°F, 80-81°F, and 82°F or above, with each band corresponding to a distinct outcome. Traders should note that preliminary NWS data may be subject to rounding and conversion nuances, and the final official NWS Climatological Report (Daily) serves as the authoritative source, superseding other weather services.
Polymarket and Kalshi can show different implied probabilities for the same outcome because of liquidity, fee structure, participant mix, and how each venue defines the contract. Each platform attracts different trader demographics, liquidity pools, and risk tolerances, which naturally produces price variation on the same event. Kalshi and Polymarket may also use slightly different contract structures or outcome thresholds, meaning traders are sometimes pricing subtly different propositions. Order flow timing, platform fees, and withdrawal mechanics can influence how quickly each market reacts to new weather data or model updates. These differences typically narrow as the event approaches, but persistent spreads often signal genuine disagreement about the probability rather than pure arbitrage opportunity.
Updated long-range weather models, tropical system forecasts, and seasonal climate patterns will likely shift trader positioning in the coming weeks. Major weather pattern changes—such as an unexpected cold front or heat dome—could trigger sharp repricing. Real-time atmospheric data releases and official National Weather Service updates typically accelerate market movement as the date draws closer. Trading volume often spikes in the final days before July 4 as traders lock in positions and new participants enter. Any significant deviation from historical Miami temperature norms for early July could also prompt recalibration across both platforms.
