Prediction market odds on Polymarket reflect real-money trader conviction and often diverge from traditional meteorological forecasts. While weather analysts issue point estimates and confidence intervals based on atmospheric models, prediction markets aggregate dispersed information from participants with financial incentives to be accurate. Market prices may lead or lag official forecasts depending on new data releases, model updates, or shifts in trader positioning. Comparing the two reveals whether the market is pricing in more or less extreme outcomes than consensus weather models suggest, offering insight into tail-risk expectations.
On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. On Polymarket, this event is priced as a set of discrete temperature outcome contracts, each representing a specific range or exact low for June 7 in London. Traders buy and sell shares in each outcome; the price of a share reflects the market's implied probability that outcome will occur. Liquidity and spreads vary by outcome popularity. As new weather data emerges or the event date approaches, prices adjust to reflect updated expectations. You can enter or exit positions at any time before market resolution on Jun 7, 2026.
The market resolves on Jun 7, 2026, after the lowest temperature recorded in London on June 7, 2026 is finalized. Resolution is determined by official temperature data from the designated meteorological authority for London. The outcome is the single lowest temperature reading logged during the calendar day, measured in the specified unit and precision. Once the data is confirmed and published, the market settles to the corresponding outcome contract, and traders' positions are credited or debited accordingly.
Major weather pattern shifts, updated seasonal forecasts, and atmospheric pressure systems tracking toward the UK could significantly move odds. Release of new ensemble model runs from meteorological agencies, changes in solar activity predictions, or anomalies in jet stream positioning may trigger repricing. Closer to June 7, daily weather updates and real-time observations become dominant drivers. Unexpected cold fronts, warming trends, or unusual high-altitude conditions could shift market expectations. Traders also react to historical temperature records for that date and any climate anomalies reported in late May.
