This market will resolve to the temperature range that contains the lowest temperature recorded by the Hong Kong Observatory in degrees Celsius on 8 Jun '26. The resolution source for this market will be information from the Hong Kong Observatory, specifically the "Absolute Daily Min (deg. C)" the specified date once information is finalized in the relevant "Daily Extract", available here: https://www.weather.gov.hk/en/cis/climat.htm This market can not resolve until data for this date has been published. The resolution source for this market measures temperatures in Celsius to one decimal place (eg, 9.1°C). Thus, this is the level of precision that will be used when resolving the market. Any revisions to temperatures recorded after data is initially published for this market's timeframe will not be considered for this market's resolution.
Prediction market odds on Polymarket reflect aggregated trader expectations and often incorporate meteorological models and historical climate data for Hong Kong. Analyst forecasts from weather services and climate researchers provide independent baseline estimates for June temperatures in the region. Comparing market-implied probabilities to professional weather predictions can reveal whether traders are pricing in more optimistic or pessimistic temperature scenarios than official forecasters. Divergences may signal either market inefficiency or unique insights traders hold about atmospheric conditions expected that day.
On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. On Polymarket, the lowest temperature outcome is priced using an automated market maker model where traders buy and sell shares representing different temperature ranges or thresholds. The price of each outcome reflects the collective belief of market participants about the probability of that specific low temperature occurring. As new weather data, seasonal patterns, and climate models emerge, traders adjust their positions, moving prices up or down. The current market price directly translates to an implied probability that informs both casual observers and serious weather forecasters.
The market resolves on Jun 8, 2026, after the date in question has passed and actual temperature data becomes available. Resolution depends on official recorded measurements of the lowest temperature reached in Hong Kong on June 8. Once verified data is published by the relevant meteorological authority, the outcome is determined and winning positions are settled. Traders should monitor official weather station reports and Hong Kong Observatory records as the event date approaches to understand how the final low temperature will be measured and confirmed.
Several factors could shift market odds before June 8. Updated seasonal forecasts and long-range weather models from meteorological agencies may indicate cooler or warmer conditions ahead. Tropical weather systems, monsoon patterns, or unusual atmospheric circulation could alter expected temperatures. Historical climate data and analogous years with similar conditions may influence trader positioning. Real-time weather updates in late May and early June will provide increasingly precise short-range forecasts. Additionally, any anomalies in ocean temperatures or global climate indices affecting East Asia could prompt market repricing as the event date draws closer.
