This market will resolve to the temperature range that contains the lowest temperature recorded by the Hong Kong Observatory in degrees Celsius on 7 Jun '26. The resolution source for this market will be information from the Hong Kong Observatory, specifically the "Absolute Daily Min (deg. C)" the specified date once information is finalized in the relevant "Daily Extract", available here: https://www.weather.gov.hk/en/cis/climat.htm This market can not resolve until data for this date has been published. The resolution source for this market measures temperatures in Celsius to one decimal place (eg, 9.1°C). Thus, this is the level of precision that will be used when resolving the market. Any revisions to temperatures recorded after data is initially published for this market's timeframe will not be considered for this market's resolution.
Prediction market odds on Polymarket reflect real-money consensus from traders betting on Hong Kong's June 7 low temperature. Traditional weather forecasts from meteorological agencies typically rely on numerical models and historical climate data. Markets often incorporate broader information—including long-range forecasts, seasonal patterns, and trader conviction—which can diverge from single-model predictions. Comparing the two reveals whether traders are pricing in more optimistic or pessimistic temperature scenarios than official forecasters.
The market resolves on Jun 7, 2026, after the lowest temperature recorded in Hong Kong on June 7 is finalized. Resolution depends on official temperature data from the relevant meteorological authority for that date. Once the actual low is confirmed, the outcome contract matching that temperature (or range) is marked correct, and traders holding winning shares receive their payout based on the final odds.
Several factors can shift odds before resolution. Updated seasonal forecasts or extended-range weather models showing cooler or warmer patterns will influence trader expectations. Major atmospheric systems—such as tropical cyclones, monsoon onset, or heat waves—developing in the weeks before June 7 could dramatically reprrice the market. Real-time weather updates, anomalous ocean temperatures, and historical June climate data releases may also trigger trading activity as participants refine their probability estimates.
