This market will resolve to the temperature range that contains the lowest temperature recorded by the Hong Kong Observatory in degrees Celsius on 19 Jun '26. The resolution source for this market will be information from the Hong Kong Observatory, specifically the "Absolute Daily Min (deg. C)" the specified date once information is finalized in the relevant "Daily Extract", available here: https://www.weather.gov.hk/en/cis/climat.htm This market can not resolve until data for this date has been published. The resolution source for this market measures temperatures in Celsius to one decimal place (eg, 9.1°C). Thus, this is the level of precision that will be used when resolving the market. Any revisions to temperatures recorded after data is initially published for this market's timeframe will not be considered for this market's resolution.

Prediction market odds often diverge from traditional meteorological forecasts because they incorporate real-time trader behavior, media attention, and broader uncertainty. While weather agencies publish deterministic low-temperature predictions based on atmospheric models, this market aggregates the views of many participants with financial incentives to forecast accurately. Comparing the implied probability here to official forecasts can reveal where traders expect greater or lesser confidence in the meteorological consensus, highlighting potential surprises or overlooked risks.
On Polymarket, traders set the odds by buying and selling outcome shares in an automated market maker, where prices adjust based on supply and demand. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. Each temperature bracket has its own share price, ranging from 0 to 1, and the sum of all outcome prices equals 1. Your potential profit depends on the final price of the outcome you hold; if you buy a bracket at 0.30 and it resolves to 1.00, you double your stake. Lower prices signal lower perceived probability, while higher prices indicate stronger trader conviction.
This market resolves around Jun 19, 2026, once the lowest temperature recorded in Hong Kong on June 19 is verified against credible public sources. The outcome is determined by the official temperature reading from the Hong Kong Observatory or equivalent authoritative meteorological body. Whichever outcome bracket contains the recorded low temperature will be marked correct, and all shares in that bracket will be worth 1.00 while all others expire worthless.
Major weather pattern shifts, tropical cyclone activity, or monsoon intensity changes can significantly move odds in this market. Updated seasonal forecasts, atmospheric pressure anomalies, and real-time satellite imagery often trigger sharp repricing as traders reassess the likelihood of extreme cold or heat. Media coverage of unusual weather systems, climate indices like the Southern Oscillation, and historical temperature records for June 19 also influence trading. As the date approaches, actual daily temperatures and short-range forecasts become increasingly important drivers of market movement.
