The resolution source for this market will be information from the Hong Kong Observatory, specifically the "Absolute Daily Min (deg. C)" the specified date once information is finalized in the relevant "Daily Extract", available here: https://www.weather.gov.hk/en/cis/climat.htm This market can not resolve until data for this date has been published. The resolution source for this market measures temperatures in Celsius to one decimal place (eg, 9.1°C). Thus, this is the level of precision that will be used when resolving the market. Any revisions to temperatures recorded after data is initially published for this market's timeframe will not be considered for this market's resolution.

Prediction market odds often diverge from traditional weather analyst forecasts because they reflect real-time aggregation of diverse trader views rather than a single institution's model. While meteorologists publish point estimates and confidence intervals based on atmospheric data, this market prices uncertainty through continuous trading. Traders incorporate analyst forecasts, satellite imagery, historical patterns, and their own assessments into their bids and asks. The market may assign higher or lower probability to specific temperature thresholds than official forecasts suggest, revealing where collective market opinion differs from expert consensus. This comparison can highlight areas of genuine uncertainty or contrarian positioning.
On Polymarket, traders set the odds by buying and selling shares that represent different temperature outcomes. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. Each share pays out based on whether the actual lowest temperature matches the specified range or threshold. The current market probability reflects the aggregate of all open positions and recent trades; as new information arrives, traders adjust their positions, moving the price up or down. The top outcome currently reflects market consensus, though individual traders can take contrarian positions at any time before the market closes.
This market resolves around Jun 18, 2026, once the lowest temperature recorded in Hong Kong on June 18 is verifiable from credible public sources. The outcome is determined by the actual meteorological data reported for that date, typically from Hong Kong's official weather station or recognized climate monitoring agencies. Traders holding shares in the correct outcome receive their payout once the temperature is confirmed and the market settles automatically. Until that point, positions remain open and prices may fluctuate as traders reassess probabilities based on updated forecasts and real-time weather developments.
Several factors could shift market odds significantly before resolution. Updated weather models from meteorological agencies, tropical storm or typhoon warnings, and seasonal climate patterns all influence trader expectations. Real-time atmospheric pressure changes, humidity levels, and wind patterns reported in the days leading up to June 18 may prompt repricing. Major weather events in the region or unexpected shifts in the jet stream could alter forecasts dramatically. Additionally, as the date approaches, traders gain more certainty from short-range forecasts, typically tightening the range of plausible outcomes and concentrating liquidity around the most likely temperature bands.
