This market will resolve to the temperature range that contains the lowest temperature recorded by the Hong Kong Observatory in degrees Celsius on 14 Jun '26. The resolution source for this market will be information from the Hong Kong Observatory, specifically the "Absolute Daily Min (deg. C)" the specified date once information is finalized in the relevant "Daily Extract", available here: https://www.weather.gov.hk/en/cis/climat.htm This market can not resolve until data for this date has been published. The resolution source for this market measures temperatures in Celsius to one decimal place (eg, 9.1°C). Thus, this is the level of precision that will be used when resolving the market. Any revisions to temperatures recorded after data is initially published for this market's timeframe will not be considered for this market's resolution.

Prediction market odds often diverge from traditional weather forecasts because they reflect real-money incentives and crowd wisdom rather than a single model's output. While meteorologists publish point estimates and confidence intervals based on atmospheric data, traders in this market price in broader uncertainty, historical volatility, and tail-risk scenarios. Over time, markets tend to converge toward accuracy as participants with superior information profit. Comparing the implied probability from current odds to the consensus forecast from Hong Kong's Observatory or regional weather services can reveal whether traders are pricing in more or less downside risk than official models suggest.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through an automated market maker that sets odds based on the ratio of shares held in each outcome bucket. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. Traders buy and sell shares representing different temperature ranges, and the price of each share reflects the collective belief in that outcome. As more capital flows into a particular temperature range, its price rises and the implied probability increases. The continuous pricing mechanism allows real-time discovery and lets participants enter or exit positions at transparent, market-determined rates throughout the trading window.
This market resolves around Jun 14, 2026, once June 14 has passed and the lowest temperature recorded in Hong Kong can be verified. The outcome is confirmed against credible public sources, typically the Hong Kong Observatory's official weather records. Traders holding shares in the correct temperature range at resolution receive their payout, while incorrect positions expire worthless. The resolution process is automated once the data is available, ensuring all participants see the same final result simultaneously.
Major weather pattern shifts, tropical storm warnings, or significant changes to seasonal forecasts can trigger sharp repricing in this market. Updated model runs from meteorological agencies, particularly those showing unusual cold fronts or heat anomalies, often drive trader repositioning. Real-time atmospheric data releases and any official alerts from the Hong Kong Observatory will influence odds as the event date approaches. Additionally, historical temperature records for that date and broader climate trends may prompt traders to adjust their bets as new information becomes available.
