Prediction market odds on Polymarket reflect real-money consensus from traders and can be compared against meteorological forecasts from weather agencies and climate analysts. Prediction markets often incorporate broader information sets and incentivize accuracy through financial stakes, whereas traditional forecasts rely on atmospheric modeling. Comparing the two reveals whether markets are pricing in more optimistic or pessimistic temperature scenarios than official weather predictions for Hong Kong on June 13.
On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. On Polymarket, the lowest temperature outcome is priced through an automated market maker or order-book mechanism, with each temperature bracket represented as a separate contract. Traders buy and sell shares reflecting their belief in whether the actual low will fall within that range. Prices fluctuate based on order flow, new weather data, and seasonal patterns. The implied probability of each outcome is derived from the current market price, allowing participants to assess and trade their conviction on Hong Kong's June 13 temperature low.
The market resolves on Jun 13, 2026, after the lowest temperature in Hong Kong on June 13 has been recorded. Resolution is determined by the actual observed minimum temperature on that date, typically sourced from official meteorological stations or recognized weather data providers. Once the official low is confirmed, the outcome is settled and traders' positions are finalized based on which temperature bracket or outcome correctly predicted the result.
Key signals include updated seasonal weather forecasts, tropical storm or typhoon activity in the region, atmospheric pressure systems, and historical temperature patterns for mid-June in Hong Kong. Major weather model updates from meteorological agencies can shift market expectations. Real-time satellite data, ocean temperature anomalies, and monsoon intensity forecasts may also influence trader positioning. As June 13 approaches, short-term weather models become more reliable, typically causing sharper price movements as uncertainty narrows and forecasts converge.
