This market will resolve to the temperature range that contains the lowest temperature recorded by the Hong Kong Observatory in degrees Celsius on 6 Jul '26. The resolution source for this market will be information from the Hong Kong Observatory, specifically the "Absolute Daily Min (deg. C)" the specified date once information is finalized in the relevant "Daily Extract", available here: https://www.weather.gov.hk/en/cis/climat.htm This market can not resolve until data for this date has been published. The resolution source for this market measures temperatures in Celsius to one decimal place (eg, 9.1°C). Thus, this is the level of precision that will be used when resolving the market. Any revisions to temperatures recorded after data is initially published for this market's timeframe will not be considered for this market's resolution.

Prediction market odds reflect the aggregated beliefs of traders actively pricing outcomes, whereas meteorological forecasts from official agencies rely on atmospheric models and historical data. This market's odds can diverge from traditional weather forecasts because traders incorporate their own interpretations of model uncertainty, recent climate patterns, and local Hong Kong conditions. When professional meteorologists and market participants align on a likely temperature range, odds tend to converge; significant divergence may signal either trader skepticism of official forecasts or new information traders are pricing in ahead of the event.
On Polymarket, traders set prices by buying and selling shares representing different temperature outcomes, with the market price reflecting the collective probability estimate at any moment. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. Each outcome contract trades independently, so a specific temperature threshold—such as whether the low will be 24°C—can have its own odds separate from other possible ranges. As traders adjust their positions based on new weather data or model updates, the price of each outcome shifts, creating a dynamic market that continuously reprices the likelihood of each temperature scenario.
This market resolves around Jul 6, 2026, once the lowest temperature recorded in Hong Kong on July 6 is verified against credible public sources. The outcome is determined by the actual minimum temperature observed that day, compared against the specific thresholds or ranges defined by each contract in the market. Resolution occurs after the event concludes and official temperature data becomes available, allowing the platform to settle all positions based on the confirmed meteorological reading.
Major weather pattern shifts, tropical cyclone activity, or updated seasonal forecasts could significantly move this market. Real-time atmospheric model runs released in the days leading up to July 6 will likely trigger price adjustments as traders incorporate new data about high-pressure systems, monsoon behavior, or anomalous heat events. Additionally, historical temperature anomalies for early July in Hong Kong and any unusual climate oscillations (such as El Niño effects) may prompt traders to revise their positions, causing odds to fluctuate as the event date approaches.
