Prediction market odds reflect real-time consensus from traders who stake capital on outcomes, often incorporating meteorological forecasts, historical climate patterns, and seasonal data. Unlike traditional analyst forecasts, this market aggregates dispersed information through price discovery—traders who accurately predict Hong Kong's July 5 low temperature profit, creating incentives for accuracy. Meteorologists and climate analysts typically publish point forecasts or ranges, while this market distills those inputs into a single probability. The divergence between market odds and official forecasts can signal where traders see additional risk or opportunity relative to expert opinion.
On Polymarket, traders buy and sell shares representing yes or no outcomes, with the share price directly reflecting the market's implied probability. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The current price for yes shares on whether the lowest temperature will be 22°C or below reflects the collective betting activity and conviction of all participants. As new weather data emerges or conditions shift, traders adjust positions, moving the price up or down. This continuous price mechanism ensures the market stays responsive to real-world developments leading up to July 5.
This market resolves around Jul 5, 2026, once the lowest temperature recorded in Hong Kong on July 5 is verified against credible public sources. The outcome is binary: if the minimum temperature is 22°C or below, yes shares pay out; if it exceeds 22°C, no shares pay out. Resolution depends on official meteorological data from recognized weather monitoring stations in Hong Kong. Traders holding winning shares receive their payout once the outcome is confirmed and the market settles.
Weather forecasts and seasonal patterns are primary drivers for this market. Tropical storm systems, monsoon activity, or heat waves approaching Hong Kong in early July could shift odds significantly. Real-time meteorological updates from regional weather agencies will influence trader positioning as July 5 approaches. Historical temperature records for that date and time-of-year climate norms also inform expectations. Major atmospheric changes—such as unexpected cold fronts or shifts in wind patterns—could trigger rapid repricing. Traders monitor both long-range forecasts and short-term model updates to adjust their positions.
