Frequently asked questions

On Polymarket, the Hong Kong July 13 temperature market dashboard tracks real-time odds and trading activity for the lowest temperature forecast on that specific date in Hong Kong. The interface displays current market prices, historical price movements, and 24-hour volume of $66,904 to help traders monitor sentiment shifts. This market reflects collective predictions from participants betting on whether the daily low will fall within specific temperature ranges. The dashboard updates continuously as new trades execute, giving you a live snapshot of how the crowd is pricing this weather outcome throughout the trading period.

Prediction market odds often diverge from traditional meteorologist forecasts because they incorporate real-time trader conviction and risk appetite alongside expert models. While weather analysts publish point estimates and confidence intervals based on atmospheric data, this market aggregates distributed bets from participants who may weight recent patterns, historical volatility, or emerging weather systems differently. The odds here reflect what traders are willing to stake, not just what models predict. Over time, markets tend to incorporate new information faster than static forecasts update, though both sources can prove valuable when cross-referenced during the lead-up to resolution.

On Polymarket, this market is priced through an automated market maker that converts trader buy and sell orders into real-time probability quotes. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. Each outcome range has its own contract, and the price of each reflects the cumulative bets placed on it. As traders buy shares in a particular temperature band, that outcome's price rises and others adjust downward to maintain the market's internal consistency. This continuous repricing mechanism ensures liquidity and allows participants to enter or exit positions at transparent, algorithmically determined rates throughout the trading window.

This market resolves around Jul 13, 2026, after the close of trading on July 13. The outcome is determined by the verified lowest temperature recorded in Hong Kong on that date, confirmed once the event is observable from credible public reporting. Once the official reading is published by relevant meteorological authorities, the winning outcome bracket is identified and payouts are distributed to holders of the correct contract. The resolution process is straightforward and tied to factual, independently verifiable data rather than subjective interpretation.

Major weather pattern shifts, tropical storm or typhoon alerts, and updated seasonal forecasts from meteorological agencies can all drive significant price swings in this market. Real-time atmospheric pressure changes, monsoon intensity reports, and unexpected cold fronts moving toward Hong Kong would likely trigger sharp repricing as traders reassess probabilities. Additionally, historical temperature records for July 13 or broader climate data releases may influence positioning. As the date approaches, any official weather warnings or dramatic model consensus shifts would create trading opportunities, since markets react quickly to new information that affects the likelihood of specific temperature outcomes.
