Frequently asked questions

The Hong Kong July 11 temperature market dashboard on Polymarket tracks real-time odds and trading activity for the lowest temperature forecast on that date. The interface displays current market prices, 24-hour trading volume of $676, and historical price movements as traders update their positions. This market aggregates collective predictions from participants betting on whether Hong Kong's minimum temperature will fall at or below specific thresholds, with live odds reflecting the crowd's confidence in each outcome as new information emerges.

Prediction market odds often diverge from traditional meteorological forecasts because they incorporate real-time trader sentiment and broader uncertainty. While weather analysts rely on atmospheric models and historical data to project July temperatures in Hong Kong, this market prices in additional factors such as climate variability and trader conviction. Comparing the current odds to official forecasts from meteorological agencies can reveal whether the crowd is more bullish or bearish on cooler conditions than experts expect, though both sources aim to estimate the same underlying event.

This market resolves around Jul 11, 2026, once July 11 has passed and the actual lowest temperature in Hong Kong can be verified. The outcome is confirmed against credible public sources reporting the day's minimum temperature. Traders who correctly predicted whether the temperature would fall within their chosen range receive payouts proportional to their stake, while incorrect positions expire worthless. Resolution typically occurs within hours of the market close date once official data is published.

Several factors could shift odds before July 11 arrives. Updated seasonal forecasts, tropical storm warnings, or anomalous heat patterns reported by meteorological agencies may prompt traders to reprrice their positions. El Niño or La Niña developments affecting regional climate could influence long-term temperature expectations. Additionally, historical temperature records for early July in Hong Kong and real-time atmospheric pressure systems tracked in the days leading up to the event may trigger significant trading activity. Major weather model updates typically drive the largest price swings.
