This market will resolve to the temperature range that contains the highest temperature recorded at the Wuhan Tianhe International Airport Station in degrees Celsius on 18 Jun '26. The resolution source for this market will be information from Wunderground, specifically the highest temperature recorded for all times on this day for the Wuhan Tianhe International Airport Station, available here: https://www.wunderground.com/history/daily/cn/wuhan/ZHHH. To toggle between Fahrenheit and Celsius, click the gear icon next to the search bar and switch the Temperature setting between °F and °C. This market can not resolve until the first data point for the following date has been published on the resolution source. The resolution source for this market measures temperatures to whole degrees Celsius (eg, 9°C). Thus, this is the level of precision that will be used when resolving the market. Revisions to temperatures recorded within this market's timeframe will be considered until the first datapoint for the following date has been published, after which any alterations will not be considered.

Prediction market odds often diverge from traditional weather analyst forecasts because they incorporate real-time trader sentiment, historical accuracy data, and forward-looking risk adjustments. While meteorologists publish deterministic point forecasts and confidence intervals based on atmospheric models, this market aggregates the financial incentives of thousands of participants who profit only if their prediction proves correct. Analysts may emphasize model consensus, whereas traders factor in tail risks, recent forecast misses, and seasonal patterns. Comparing the two reveals whether the market is pricing in more optimism or caution than the official forecast consensus.
On Polymarket, traders set the odds by buying and selling outcome shares in an automated market maker (AMM) system. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. Each outcome—typically defined as temperature ranges (e.g., below 25°C, 25–30°C, above 30°C)—has a share price between 0 and 1 that reflects the probability traders assign to that range occurring. As demand for a particular outcome increases, its price rises; conversely, selling pressure lowers it. The market price at any moment represents the marginal trader's belief about the likelihood of that outcome, and the sum of all outcome probabilities equals one.
This market resolves around Jun 18, 2026, once the highest temperature recorded in Wuhan on June 18 is verifiable from credible public sources. The outcome is determined by comparing actual meteorological data against the predefined temperature thresholds established at market creation. Traders who held shares in the correct outcome receive a payout proportional to their position size. Resolution typically occurs within hours of the close of the trading day, pending confirmation of the official temperature reading from reliable weather reporting.
Major weather model updates, seasonal pattern shifts, and atmospheric anomalies—such as unexpected heat waves or cold fronts—can significantly shift trader positioning. Real-time satellite imagery, upper-atmosphere pressure systems, and moisture levels all influence near-term temperature expectations. Historical precedent for June temperatures in Wuhan also anchors trader beliefs; unusually warm or cool years may trigger repricing. Additionally, forecast revisions from major meteorological agencies often trigger volume spikes as traders adjust positions. As June 18 approaches, intraday temperature readings and live weather radar data will increasingly narrow the range of plausible outcomes.
