Frequently asked questions

Prediction markets like this one aggregate the collective judgment of traders with real money at stake, often revealing insights that differ from traditional weather analyst forecasts. While meteorologists rely on numerical models and historical data, this market reflects live expectations from participants constantly updating their views. Comparing the odds here to published forecasts from major weather services can highlight where traders see divergence—whether they expect a warmer or cooler day than the consensus model suggests. This dynamic pricing often captures emerging signals faster than static forecasts.

This market resolves around Jun 17, 2026, once June 17 has passed and the highest temperature recorded in Wuhan can be verified. The outcome is determined by comparing the actual peak temperature against the outcome thresholds defined in the market. Verification happens through credible public reporting of weather data, ensuring that all traders have access to the same authoritative information when the market settles.

Several factors could shift odds significantly before resolution. Updated seasonal weather forecasts, atmospheric patterns, or tropical systems approaching the region would prompt traders to reassess temperature expectations. Real-time meteorological alerts or model consensus shifts typically trigger sharp price movements. Additionally, historical temperature records for mid-June in Wuhan serve as anchors—if traders spot anomalies in current predictions, they may adjust positions. As the event date approaches, any official weather warnings or significant model updates will likely drive renewed trading activity and price adjustments.
