The resolution source for this market will be information from Wunderground, specifically the highest temperature recorded for all times on this day for the Wuhan Tianhe International Airport Station, available here: https://www.wunderground.com/history/daily/cn/wuhan/ZHHH. To toggle between Fahrenheit and Celsius, click the gear icon next to the search bar and switch the Temperature setting between °F and °C. This market can not resolve until the first data point for the following date has been published on the resolution source. The resolution source for this market measures temperatures to whole degrees Celsius (eg, 9°C). Thus, this is the level of precision that will be used when resolving the market. Revisions to temperatures recorded within this market's timeframe will be considered until the first datapoint for the following date has been published, after which any alterations will not be considered.

Prediction market odds often diverge from traditional meteorological forecasts because they incorporate real-time trader behavior, risk appetite, and information asymmetries alongside official weather models. While meteorologists rely on physics-based atmospheric simulation and historical data, this market aggregates the beliefs of many participants with financial incentives to forecast accurately. Analyst consensus may lag behind market pricing when new satellite imagery or pressure systems emerge, or traders may overweight recent volatility compared to long-term climate normals. Comparing the two reveals whether professional forecasters and market participants align on the likely temperature range.
On Polymarket, traders set the odds by buying and selling outcome shares in an automated market maker or order-book system, with prices reflecting the collective probability assigned to each temperature bracket. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The cost of a share rises as demand increases, incentivizing early forecasters and penalizing late reversals. Liquidity and trading volume determine how easily participants can enter or exit positions without slippage. Real-time price discovery ensures the market continuously reprices as new weather data, model updates, or seasonal shifts become available.
This market resolves around Jul 9, 2026, once the highest temperature recorded in Wuhan on July 9 is verifiable from credible public sources. The outcome is determined by comparing actual meteorological observations against the predefined temperature brackets offered in the market. Resolution occurs after the day concludes and official temperature data is published and confirmed. Traders holding shares in the correct outcome bracket receive their payout, while incorrect positions expire worthless.
Major weather pattern shifts, tropical cyclone formation, or unexpected atmospheric blocking systems could significantly alter temperature expectations for Wuhan on July 9. Updated ensemble forecasts from meteorological agencies, seasonal monsoon intensity changes, and real-time satellite data typically drive sharp repricing. Urban heat island effects, pollution levels, and cloud cover forecasts also influence trader positioning. As the event date approaches, intraday weather updates and final model consensus tend to compress uncertainty, while early-season anomalies or climate oscillations can create volatility in this market well in advance.
