This market will resolve to the temperature range that contains the highest temperature recorded at the Wuhan Tianhe International Airport Station in degrees Celsius on 8 Jul '26. The resolution source for this market will be information from Wunderground, specifically the highest temperature recorded for all times on this day for the Wuhan Tianhe International Airport Station, available here: https://www.wunderground.com/history/daily/cn/wuhan/ZHHH. To toggle between Fahrenheit and Celsius, click the gear icon next to the search bar and switch the Temperature setting between °F and °C. This market can not resolve until the first data point for the following date has been published on the resolution source. The resolution source for this market measures temperatures to whole degrees Celsius (eg, 9°C). Thus, this is the level of precision that will be used when resolving the market. Revisions to temperatures recorded within this market's timeframe will be considered until the first datapoint for the following date has been published, after which any alterations will not be considered.

Prediction market odds often diverge from traditional meteorologist forecasts because they incorporate real-time information, trader conviction, and financial incentives absent in academic models. While weather analysts rely on physics-based atmospheric simulations, this market reflects what informed traders are willing to stake on specific temperature outcomes. Comparing the implied probabilities here to published forecasts from regional meteorological services can reveal where the crowd sees upside or downside risk relative to expert consensus, though both approaches aim to predict the same physical event.
On Polymarket, traders set prices by buying and selling shares that correspond to different temperature ranges or outcomes. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The market price of each outcome reflects the collective willingness to trade at that level, with higher prices indicating greater perceived likelihood. As new weather models, satellite data, or atmospheric conditions emerge, traders adjust their positions, causing prices to shift in real time. This continuous price discovery mechanism means the odds you see represent the most recent consensus among active market participants.
This market resolves around Jul 8, 2026, once July 8 has passed and the highest temperature recorded in Wuhan can be verified. The outcome is confirmed against credible public reporting from meteorological authorities or established weather data sources. Traders holding shares in the correct outcome receive their payout based on the final verified temperature reading. Until that point, prices may fluctuate as forecasts update and the event date approaches.
Major weather model updates, seasonal pattern shifts, or atmospheric anomalies published by meteorological agencies can trigger significant price swings. Real-time satellite imagery showing unexpected cloud cover or heat patterns may prompt traders to reassess their positions. Extreme heat waves affecting neighboring regions or unusual jet stream behavior could also shift expectations for Wuhan's peak temperature. As the event date nears, each new forecast cycle and any breaking weather news will likely drive trading activity and repricing in this market.
