This market will resolve to the temperature range that contains the highest temperature recorded at the Wellington Intl Airport Station in degrees Celsius on 3 Jun '26. The resolution source for this market will be information from Wunderground, specifically the highest temperature recorded for all times on this day for the Wellington Intl Airport Station, available here: https://www.wunderground.com/history/daily/nz/wellington/NZWN. To toggle between Fahrenheit and Celsius, click the gear icon next to the search bar and switch the Temperature setting between °F and °C. This market can not resolve until the first data point for the following date has been published on the resolution source. The resolution source for this market measures temperatures to whole degrees Celsius (eg, 9°C). Thus, this is the level of precision that will be used when resolving the market. Revisions to temperatures recorded within this market's timeframe will be considered until the first datapoint for the following date has been published, after which any alterations will not be considered.
Prediction market odds on Polymarket reflect aggregated trader expectations and often incorporate meteorological forecasts from professional weather services. While analyst forecasts from agencies like MetService New Zealand provide deterministic temperature predictions, prediction markets price uncertainty by allowing traders to bet across a range of outcomes. Market odds may diverge from single-point analyst forecasts because traders factor in forecast confidence intervals, historical volatility, and tail-risk scenarios. Comparing the two reveals whether markets are pricing in more or less temperature variance than official forecasters expect for Wellington on June 3.
The market resolves on Jun 3, 2026, after the highest temperature in Wellington on June 3, 2026 has been recorded and verified. Resolution is determined by the official temperature reading from the designated weather station or meteorological authority responsible for Wellington climate data on that date. Once the final temperature is confirmed, the outcome contract matching that result is marked correct, and all other contracts expire worthless. Traders holding shares in the winning outcome receive their payout based on the contract price at which they held their position.
Major weather pattern shifts, seasonal climate anomalies, and updated long-range forecasts from MetService New Zealand will drive price movement in this market. El Niño or La Niña conditions, changes in Southern Hemisphere jet stream positioning, and historical temperature records for early June in Wellington all influence trader expectations. As June 3 approaches, short-range forecasts become more reliable and precise, typically causing sharper price moves. Unusual heat waves, cold fronts, or atmospheric blocking patterns reported in the weeks leading up to the date will prompt rapid repricing as traders update their probability estimates.
