Prediction market odds on Polymarket reflect real-time trader sentiment and can be compared against meteorological forecasts from agencies like MetService or the New Zealand National Institute of Water and Atmospheric Research. While professional weather models provide deterministic temperature predictions based on atmospheric data, prediction markets aggregate distributed expectations across many participants. Discrepancies between market odds and official forecasts may signal either market inefficiency or uncertainty in the underlying weather models. Tracking both sources helps identify where consensus diverges most significantly.
The market resolves on Jun 11, 2026, after the highest temperature in Wellington on June 11 has been recorded and officially reported. Resolution depends on verified temperature data from the designated weather station or meteorological authority responsible for Wellington observations. Once the final high temperature is confirmed, the outcome is determined and contracts settle accordingly. Traders should monitor official weather station reports and any platform-specific resolution criteria in the days leading up to and following the event date.
Major weather system changes, updated seasonal forecasts, and atmospheric pressure patterns over the Tasman Sea could significantly shift market odds. Cold fronts moving north from the Southern Ocean, high-pressure systems, or unexpected climate anomalies may alter temperature expectations. Real-time weather model updates from meteorological agencies typically influence trader positioning. Historical temperature data for Wellington in early June and any unusual climate patterns in the weeks before the event could also trigger repricing. Traders should monitor weather alerts and forecast revisions closely.
