Prediction market odds reflect real-time consensus from traders with financial incentives to forecast accurately, often diverging from traditional weather analyst models. While meteorologists rely on physics-based simulations and historical data, this market aggregates dispersed information and trader conviction through price discovery. Analysts may publish point forecasts or ranges, but prediction markets compress that uncertainty into a single probability that updates continuously. Over time, markets have proven competitive with or superior to expert forecasts on weather outcomes, particularly when traders have access to the same underlying data and strong incentive alignment.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through an automated market maker that allows traders to buy and sell shares representing different temperature ranges or outcomes. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The price of each outcome reflects the probability traders assign to it, with higher prices indicating greater confidence. As new trades occur, the pricing adjusts dynamically to balance supply and demand. Traders profit by correctly predicting the highest temperature, incentivizing accurate forecasting and efficient price discovery throughout the trading period.
This market resolves around Jun 19, 2026, once the highest temperature recorded in Warsaw on June 19 becomes verifiable from credible public sources. The outcome is determined by official meteorological data reported for that date and location. Resolution occurs after the trading window closes and the actual temperature is confirmed, allowing the platform to settle all positions based on which outcome bracket or prediction was correct. Traders should monitor weather reporting from reliable sources as the event date approaches.
Weather pattern shifts, seasonal forecasts, and atmospheric pressure systems can all influence trader expectations and move prices in this market. Major weather events or anomalies reported in European forecasts may trigger repricing as new information becomes available. Long-range climate data, historical temperature records for Warsaw in June, and real-time meteorological updates will likely drive trading activity. As June 19 approaches, short-term weather models become more reliable, often causing sharper price movements. Traders monitoring European weather services and climate reports will have an edge in anticipating market swings.
