Prediction market odds often diverge from traditional meteorological forecasts because they incorporate real-time trader sentiment, historical volatility, and broader uncertainty. While weather analysts publish point estimates and confidence intervals based on atmospheric models, this market aggregates the collective judgment of traders who profit or lose based on accuracy. Comparing the implied probability here to published forecasts from national weather services can reveal where the crowd sees higher or lower risk than official models suggest, offering a complementary perspective on June 18's expected conditions in Warsaw.
On Polymarket, traders set prices by buying and selling outcome shares in an automated market maker (AMM) system. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. Each temperature range is represented as a separate contract, and the price of each reflects the probability the crowd assigns to that outcome. As traders place orders, the market price adjusts in real time, with the total value of all outcomes always summing to one dollar. This mechanism ensures continuous liquidity and transparent pricing throughout the trading period.
This market resolves around Jun 18, 2026, once June 18 has passed and the highest temperature recorded in Warsaw can be verified. The outcome is determined by comparing actual recorded temperatures against the predefined brackets offered in the market. Winning shares are paid out based on which temperature range the verified high falls into, with payouts confirmed once the event is verifiable from credible public reporting.
Major weather pattern shifts, updated seasonal forecasts, and real-time atmospheric data releases can significantly move prices in this market. Unexpected heat waves, changes in jet stream positioning, or anomalous pressure systems over Central Europe may trigger sharp repricing. Additionally, historical temperature records for June 18 in Warsaw and broader climate trends can influence trader positioning. As the event date approaches, intraday weather updates and final model consensus typically drive the most volatile price swings.
