Frequently asked questions

On Polymarket, the Warsaw temperature market dashboard tracks real-time odds and historical price movements for predictions on the highest temperature recorded in Warsaw on June 15. The interface displays current market pricing, 24-hour trading volume, and outcome probabilities as traders buy and sell shares tied to specific temperature ranges. This live data reflects collective market sentiment and allows participants to monitor how expectations shift as new weather forecasts and seasonal patterns emerge.

Prediction market odds often diverge from traditional weather analyst forecasts because they incorporate real-time trader behavior, risk appetite, and forward-looking sentiment rather than relying solely on meteorological models. While meteorologists publish point estimates and confidence intervals based on atmospheric data, this market aggregates the beliefs of many participants with financial incentives to forecast accurately. Comparing the two reveals whether traders are pricing in more optimism or caution than official forecasts suggest, offering a complementary perspective on expected outcomes.

On Polymarket, traders set prices by buying and selling outcome shares in an automated market maker or order-book system, with each share representing a claim on a specific temperature outcome. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The market price reflects the marginal probability assigned by the last trader to move the market, and spreads between bid and ask prices indicate liquidity and consensus strength. As new information arrives—updated forecasts, seasonal shifts, or real-time weather developments—traders adjust positions, causing prices to move continuously until resolution.

This market resolves around Jun 15, 2026, once the highest temperature recorded in Warsaw on that date becomes verifiable from credible public sources. The outcome is determined by official meteorological data reported by recognized weather monitoring stations or national weather services covering the Warsaw region. Traders holding shares in the correct temperature range at resolution receive their payout, while incorrect positions expire worthless.

Major weather pattern shifts, updated seasonal forecasts, and anomalous atmospheric conditions in Central Europe can significantly influence trading activity in this market. Real-time developments such as heat waves, cold fronts, or changes to long-range models published by meteorological agencies often trigger rapid repricing. Additionally, historical temperature records for June 15 and broader climate trends may prompt traders to reassess their positions, causing volatility in the days leading up to the resolution date.
