Frequently asked questions

The Warsaw July 8 temperature market dashboard on Polymarket tracks real-time odds and historical price movements for contracts tied to the highest temperature recorded in Warsaw on July 8. Traders buy and sell shares representing different temperature ranges, and the dashboard displays current bid-ask spreads, cumulative volume, and the probability implied by the leading outcome. This live pricing reflects collective market expectations as participants update their positions based on weather forecasts and incoming data throughout the event window.

Prediction market odds often diverge from traditional meteorological forecasts because they incorporate real-time trader sentiment, historical volatility, and tail-risk pricing. While weather analysts issue point estimates and confidence intervals based on numerical models, this market aggregates dispersed information through price discovery. Traders may price in uncertainty or edge cases that formal forecasts downweight, making the market's implied probability a useful cross-check against expert consensus. Over time, markets tend to converge toward accuracy as resolution approaches and new data emerges.

On Polymarket, this market is priced through an automated market maker that allows traders to buy and sell outcome shares continuously. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The price of each temperature range contract reflects the probability assigned by the pool; as traders accumulate shares in one outcome, the cost of additional shares in that outcome rises, while the cost of contrarian shares falls. This mechanism ensures liquidity and allows participants to enter or exit positions at transparent, real-time rates determined by aggregate demand.

This market resolves around Jul 8, 2026, once the highest temperature recorded in Warsaw on July 8 is verifiable from credible public sources. The outcome is determined by official meteorological data, typically published by Poland's national weather service or internationally recognized weather stations operating in the city. Resolution occurs after the trading window closes and the final temperature reading is confirmed, at which point the winning outcome shares are redeemed at full value and all other shares expire worthless.

Major weather pattern shifts, updated seasonal forecasts, and real-time atmospheric data releases can all shift odds significantly. Tropical systems, heat domes, or cold fronts affecting Central Europe would trigger repricing as traders adjust expectations. Short-term catalysts include daily weather model updates, satellite imagery showing cloud cover or moisture, and any unusual atmospheric pressure anomalies. As July 8 approaches, intraday temperature readings and live weather station data will drive final price adjustments, with the market becoming increasingly sensitive to minute-by-minute conditions in the hours before resolution.
