Frequently asked questions

On Polymarket, the Warsaw July 3 temperature market dashboard tracks real-time odds and trading activity for contracts tied to the highest temperature recorded in Warsaw on July 3. Traders buy and sell shares based on their forecasts of whether the peak temperature will hit specific thresholds. The dashboard displays current odds, historical price movements, and liquidity metrics, giving participants a live view of market sentiment around this weather outcome. As traders adjust positions, the odds shift to reflect evolving expectations about summer conditions in Warsaw.

Prediction market odds and traditional weather analyst forecasts often diverge because they operate on different timescales and incentive structures. Meteorologists issue deterministic point forecasts or ranges based on atmospheric models, while traders in this market are financially motivated to price in tail risks and uncertainty. Over time, markets tend to incorporate new data—satellite imagery, pressure systems, and model updates—faster than formal forecasts are revised. Comparing the current odds to the latest analyst consensus can reveal whether traders are pricing in more or less extreme outcomes than the professional forecast suggests.

On Polymarket, this market is priced through an automated market maker that adjusts odds based on order flow and liquidity. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. Traders submit buy or sell orders for shares representing different temperature outcomes, and the contract price—expressed as a percentage between 0 and 100—reflects the collective belief in that outcome's probability. As more capital flows into a particular outcome, its price rises, and competing outcomes fall. The spread between bid and ask prices reflects liquidity depth; tighter spreads indicate higher trading activity and confidence in fair pricing.

This market resolves around Jul 3, 2026, once July 3 has passed and the highest temperature in Warsaw can be verified. The outcome is determined by comparing the recorded peak temperature against the threshold specified in the contract. Verification relies on credible public weather data sources to confirm the final reading. Once the event is observable and confirmed, the market settles automatically, with winning shares paid out at full value and losing shares expiring worthless.

Several factors can shift odds in this market before Jul 3, 2026. Updated weather models showing stronger or weaker heat patterns will trigger immediate repricing as traders adjust forecasts. Seasonal climate anomalies—such as early heatwaves or cooler-than-normal patterns across Europe—can influence expectations. Real-time atmospheric data, including jet stream positioning and high-pressure system development, often sparks trading surges. Major weather events in neighboring regions or shifts in the North Atlantic Oscillation may also move sentiment. As July approaches, historical temperature records and long-range ensemble forecasts become focal points for traders refining their positions.
