Prediction market odds often diverge from traditional weather forecasts because they incorporate real-time trader sentiment and aggregate dispersed information beyond meteorological models alone. While meteorologists issue point forecasts and confidence intervals based on atmospheric data, this market allows traders to express their own probability estimates by buying and selling shares. Over time, prediction markets have demonstrated competitive accuracy against expert forecasts, though they can be more volatile in the days immediately before resolution as new data arrives and positions shift.
On Polymarket, traders set the odds through an automated market maker that adjusts prices based on order flow and liquidity. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. Each contract represents a specific temperature range, and the price of a share reflects the collective probability assigned by all active traders. As buyers and sellers interact, the spread between bid and ask prices tightens or widens depending on volume and conviction, making the market price a real-time consensus estimate of the outcome likelihood.
This market resolves around Jul 10, 2026, once the highest temperature recorded in Warsaw on that date is verified and finalized. The outcome is confirmed against credible public sources that document official meteorological readings. Once the actual temperature is established, the contract corresponding to the correct range settles at full value, while all other contracts expire worthless, determining payouts for traders holding positions at resolution.
Major weather pattern shifts, updated seasonal forecasts, and real-time atmospheric conditions in the days leading up to July 10 will drive significant price movement in this market. Heat waves, cold fronts, or unusual pressure systems affecting Central Europe could trigger sharp repricing. Additionally, historical temperature records and long-range model consensus updates published by meteorological agencies may prompt traders to adjust positions. As the event date approaches, intraday weather updates and live forecasts typically amplify volatility and shift implied probabilities across temperature ranges.
