Frequently asked questions

On Polymarket, the Toronto temperature market dashboard tracks real-time odds and trading activity for the highest temperature forecast in Toronto on July 11. The interface displays current market prices, historical price movements, and 24-hour volume of $23,940 to help traders monitor sentiment around whether the peak temperature will reach specific thresholds. This market aggregates trader predictions into a live probability estimate, updated continuously as new bets are placed. The dashboard provides the data needed to assess how the prediction market community is pricing temperature outcomes for that date.

Prediction market odds reflect real-money bets from traders who profit or lose based on accuracy, creating a financial incentive to forecast correctly. Analyst forecasts, by contrast, come from meteorologists and climate models that rely on historical data and atmospheric science. This market prices trader conviction about whether the highest temperature will match a specific threshold, whereas traditional forecasters issue probabilistic ranges. Both approaches offer value: markets aggregate dispersed information quickly, while analysts provide detailed reasoning. Comparing the two can reveal where consensus exists and where uncertainty remains highest.

This market resolves around Jul 11, 2026, once July 11 has passed and the highest temperature in Toronto can be verified. The outcome is confirmed against credible public sources that record the peak temperature for that day. Once the event is observable and reported, the market settles automatically based on which outcome bracket or threshold the actual temperature falls into. Traders holding shares in the correct outcome receive their payout, while incorrect positions expire worthless.

Weather forecasts and seasonal climate patterns are the primary drivers of price movement in this market. Major atmospheric events—such as heat waves, cold fronts, or unusual pressure systems—can shift trader expectations significantly. Updated meteorological models released closer to July 11 will likely trigger volatility as new data becomes available. News about climate anomalies, urban heat effects, or historical temperature records for Toronto in July can also influence positioning. As the date approaches, real-time weather updates and short-term forecasts will dominate trading activity and price discovery.
