This market will resolve to the temperature range that contains the highest temperature recorded at the Tokyo Haneda Airport Station in degrees Celsius on 27 Jun '26. The resolution source for this market will be information from Wunderground, specifically the highest temperature recorded for all times on this day for the Tokyo Haneda Airport Station, available here: https://www.wunderground.com/history/daily/jp/tokyo/RJTT. To toggle between Fahrenheit and Celsius, click the gear icon next to the search bar and switch the Temperature setting between °F and °C. This market can not resolve until the first data point for the following date has been published on the resolution source. The resolution source for this market measures temperatures to whole degrees Celsius (eg, 9°C). Thus, this is the level of precision that will be used when resolving the market. Revisions to temperatures recorded within this market's timeframe will be considered until the first datapoint for the following date has been published, after which any alterations will not be considered.

Prediction market odds often diverge from traditional weather analyst forecasts because they incorporate real-time trader conviction and financial incentives absent from academic models. While meteorologists publish deterministic or probabilistic forecasts based on atmospheric data, this market aggregates the collective judgment of participants betting their capital on specific temperature outcomes. Analysts may emphasize model consensus, whereas traders factor in tail risks, historical volatility, and late-breaking data. Over time, prediction markets have demonstrated competitive accuracy against expert forecasts, though they can temporarily deviate when new information emerges or when liquidity concentrates around round-number outcomes.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through an automated market maker mechanism where traders buy and sell outcome shares, with prices determined by the ratio of liquidity pools backing each temperature bracket. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. Traders profit by correctly predicting whether the actual high will fall into their chosen range, and losses occur if the outcome lands elsewhere. The platform's pricing algorithm ensures continuous liquidity and prevents extreme arbitrage, though bid-ask spreads can widen during low-volume periods. Share prices directly reflect implied probability, so a bracket trading at 0.65 implies a 65% market-assigned likelihood of that outcome occurring.
This market resolves around Jun 27, 2026, once the highest temperature recorded in Tokyo on June 27 is finalized and verifiable from credible public sources. The outcome is determined by comparing the official recorded high against the predefined temperature brackets offered in the market. Traders holding shares in the bracket containing the actual high receive their payout, while all other positions expire worthless. Resolution typically occurs within hours of the market close, pending confirmation from authoritative meteorological data.
Major weather pattern shifts, updated seasonal forecasts, and real-time atmospheric data releases can significantly move odds in this market. Tropical systems, heat domes, or cold fronts approaching Japan in late June would trigger rapid repricing as traders adjust for changing meteorological conditions. Historical temperature records and climate anomalies for that date also influence positioning. Additionally, model consensus changes from major forecasting centers often spark trading surges as participants recalibrate their probability estimates. Closer to June 27, intraday weather updates and satellite imagery become primary drivers, with final hours typically seeing reduced volatility as uncertainty collapses toward the actual outcome.
