Prediction market odds on Polymarket reflect aggregated trader expectations and often diverge from traditional meteorological forecasts issued by Japan Meteorological Agency or international weather services. While analysts rely on atmospheric models and historical climate data, prediction markets incorporate real-time information, trader conviction, and market sentiment. Comparing Polymarket implied probabilities to official weather forecasts can reveal whether traders are pricing in higher or lower temperatures than meteorologists predict, offering an alternative gauge of temperature expectations for June 10 in Tokyo.
On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. On Polymarket, the highest temperature in Tokyo on June 10 is priced through outcome tokens representing discrete temperature ranges or specific degree thresholds. Traders buy and sell these tokens based on their belief in each outcome's likelihood. The price of each token reflects its implied probability, with higher-priced tokens indicating outcomes the market views as more probable. As new weather models, seasonal patterns, and real-time atmospheric data emerge, token prices adjust dynamically, allowing traders to enter or exit positions until market resolution on Jun 10, 2026.
The market resolves on Jun 10, 2026, after the highest temperature in Tokyo on June 10 has been recorded and verified. The outcome is determined by official temperature data for that date, typically sourced from Japan's national weather authority or recognized meteorological records for Tokyo. Once the actual high temperature is confirmed, the corresponding outcome token is deemed correct, and traders holding that token receive their payout based on the final odds at which they held their position.
Several factors can shift odds for Tokyo's June 10 high temperature. Updated seasonal weather forecasts, atmospheric pressure systems, and tropical cyclone activity in the Western Pacific can significantly influence trader expectations. Historical climate patterns for early June in Tokyo, El Niño or La Niña conditions, and real-time meteorological model runs published by major forecasting centers will drive price movements. As June 10 approaches, increasingly accurate short-range forecasts will narrow uncertainty and adjust odds toward the most probable temperature range, with final adjustments occurring in the days immediately before resolution.
