This market will resolve to the temperature range that contains the highest temperature recorded by NOAA at the Ben Gurion International Airport in degrees Celsius on 31 May '26. The resolution source for this market will be information from NOAA, specifically the highest reading under the "Temp" column for all times on this day, available here: https://www.weather.gov/wrh/timeseries?site=LLBG To toggle between Fahrenheit and Celsius, click the "Switch to Metric Units" button until the relevant table displays °C. This market can not resolve until the first data point for the following date has been published on the resolution source. The resolution source for this market measures temperatures to whole degrees Celsius (eg, 9°C). Thus, this is the level of precision that will be used when resolving the market. Revisions to temperatures recorded within this market's timeframe will be considered until the first datapoint for the following date has been published, after which any alterations will not be considered.
Prediction market odds on Polymarket reflect aggregated trader expectations and often diverge from traditional meteorological forecasts issued by weather agencies and climate analysts. While meteorologists rely on atmospheric models and historical data, prediction markets incorporate real-time information, trader conviction, and financial incentives. Comparing Polymarket odds to consensus forecasts from the Israeli Meteorological Service or international weather bureaus can reveal whether traders are pricing in higher or lower temperatures than experts predict. These differences highlight how markets sometimes anticipate shifts that models may lag on, or conversely, where analyst expertise outpaces market pricing.
On Polymarket, the highest temperature in Tel Aviv on May 31 is priced through outcome shares representing discrete temperature ranges or thresholds. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. Traders buy and sell shares corresponding to their belief about which temperature bracket will occur, with prices reflecting the collective probability assigned by the market. Share prices range from near-zero to near-one, where higher prices indicate greater perceived likelihood. Liquidity and trading volume on each outcome determine how easily traders can enter or exit positions. As May 31 approaches and weather models update, prices adjust to reflect new information and shifting trader sentiment.
The market resolves on May 31, 2026, after the highest temperature in Tel Aviv on May 31, 2026 has been recorded and verified. Resolution depends on identifying the maximum temperature reached in Tel Aviv during that calendar day. Official meteorological data from recognized weather stations or the Israeli Meteorological Service typically serves as the authoritative source. Once the final temperature is confirmed, the outcome is determined and the market settles accordingly. Traders holding shares in the correct outcome bracket receive payouts based on their position size and the final odds.
Several factors can shift odds on Polymarket before May 31, 2026. Updated seasonal weather forecasts and long-range models from meteorological agencies will influence trader expectations as May approaches. Heat waves, cold fronts, or anomalous atmospheric patterns affecting the Eastern Mediterranean region could trigger significant repricing. Real-time weather alerts and model consensus changes in late May will drive late trading activity. Historical temperature records for Tel Aviv in late May provide a baseline; deviations from typical conditions will attract trader attention. Additionally, broader climate patterns, sea surface temperatures, and regional pressure systems can all move the market as new data emerges.
