Prediction market odds often diverge from traditional meteorological forecasts because they incorporate real-time trader sentiment and broader uncertainty. While weather analysts rely on atmospheric models and historical data to project temperature ranges, this market reflects what participants are willing to stake on specific outcomes. Comparing the implied probability from trading odds to official forecasts can reveal whether the crowd is pricing in more or less confidence than experts, making prediction markets a useful complementary signal for understanding public expectations around the event.
On Polymarket, traders set the odds through an automated market maker that adjusts prices based on buy and sell volume. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. Each outcome—such as whether the highest temperature will be 31°C—is represented as a tradable contract with a price between 0 and 1, where higher prices reflect greater perceived likelihood. As traders buy or sell contracts, the market price shifts, continuously reflecting the latest consensus on the probability of that specific temperature outcome occurring on June 29.
This market resolves around Jun 29, 2026, once June 29 has passed and the highest temperature recorded in Tel Aviv can be verified. The outcome is determined by comparing the actual peak temperature against the specific thresholds defined in each contract. Resolution is confirmed once the event is verifiable from credible public reporting, ensuring that all traders have access to the same authoritative data and that payouts reflect the true result.
Weather pattern shifts, updated meteorological forecasts, and seasonal climate anomalies can all influence trading activity in this market. Major weather systems, heat waves, or unexpected atmospheric conditions reported in the days leading up to June 29 may prompt traders to reassess their positions. Additionally, historical temperature records for Tel Aviv in late June and real-time atmospheric data releases can serve as catalysts for price movement, as participants adjust their bets based on evolving evidence about the likelihood of specific temperature outcomes.
