Frequently asked questions

On Polymarket, the Tel Aviv temperature market dashboard tracks real-time odds and trading activity for the highest temperature forecast in Tel Aviv on June 28. Traders buy and sell shares based on whether they believe the peak temperature will reach specific thresholds. The interface displays current market prices, historical price movements, and trading volume, allowing participants to monitor how sentiment shifts as new weather data and forecasts emerge. This live pricing mechanism reflects the collective prediction of the market at any given moment.

Prediction market odds often diverge from traditional meteorological forecasts because they incorporate real-time trader sentiment and risk appetite alongside expert models. While weather analysts rely on atmospheric data and historical patterns, this market aggregates the beliefs of many participants with financial stakes in the outcome. Comparing the implied probability from market prices to published forecasts from meteorological agencies can reveal whether traders are pricing in more or less uncertainty than experts expect. Both sources offer value: analysts provide detailed reasoning, while markets reflect distributed information and incentivized judgment.

On Polymarket, traders set the odds by buying and selling outcome shares in an automated market maker. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. Each outcome—such as whether the highest temperature will be 27°C or below—has a price between 0 and 100 cents, representing the implied probability. As traders place orders, the price adjusts to balance supply and demand. Higher prices indicate stronger market confidence in that outcome, while lower prices suggest skepticism. This continuous price discovery process means the market price at any moment reflects the latest consensus among active participants.

This market resolves around Jun 28, 2026, once the highest temperature recorded in Tel Aviv for that day becomes verifiable from credible public sources. The outcome is determined by comparing the actual peak temperature against the specified thresholds in each outcome option. Resolution occurs after the event has concluded and official data is available, ensuring accuracy and preventing disputes. Traders' positions are settled based on which outcome occurred, with winning shares redeemed at full value and losing shares expiring worthless.

Several factors can shift odds in this market before Jun 28, 2026. Updated weather forecasts from meteorological agencies, changes in seasonal patterns, or unexpected atmospheric conditions can prompt traders to reassess probabilities. Major weather events—such as heat waves or unusual pressure systems affecting the Eastern Mediterranean—often trigger rapid repricing. Additionally, as the date approaches, refinement of short-term forecasts typically increases trading activity and volatility. Real-time temperature data and any significant climate anomalies reported in the days leading up to June 28 will likely influence final market positioning.
