Prediction market odds often diverge from traditional meteorologist forecasts because they incorporate real-time trader positioning and risk appetite alongside weather models. While meteorologists publish point estimates or confidence intervals based on atmospheric data, this market aggregates the financial commitments of many participants with different information and time horizons. Comparing the implied probability here to published forecasts from national weather services can reveal where traders see value or disagreement with official predictions.
On Polymarket, traders set the odds through an automated market maker that adjusts prices based on buy and sell volume. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. Each share represents a claim on the outcome, and the current price reflects the marginal trader's assessment of probability. As new information emerges or trader conviction shifts, the price moves continuously. You can enter or exit positions at any time before the market closes, with your profit or loss determined by the price at which you transact relative to the final resolution price.
This market resolves around Jul 6, 2026, once the highest temperature recorded in Tel Aviv on July 6 is verifiable from credible public sources. The outcome is determined by the actual peak temperature observed on that date, confirmed through official meteorological records. Traders holding shares corresponding to the correct temperature range at resolution receive their payout, while incorrect positions expire worthless. Resolution is typically finalized within hours of the market close.
Weather model updates and seasonal forecasts are primary drivers of price movement in this market. Major atmospheric patterns, heat waves, or unexpected cold fronts reported in the media can shift trader expectations significantly. As July 6 approaches, real-time weather data and short-term forecasts become more reliable, often triggering sharp repricing. Breaking news about climate anomalies or local conditions in Tel Aviv may also influence positioning. Late-stage trading typically reflects the most recent meteorological consensus.
