Prediction market odds reflect real-money bets from traders and reflect dynamic, crowd-sourced expectations for Taipei's peak temperature on June 4. Traditional analyst forecasts from meteorological agencies typically rely on seasonal models and historical climate data. Markets often incorporate late-breaking weather patterns and real-time atmospheric data faster than static forecasts. Comparing the two reveals whether traders are pricing in more optimistic or pessimistic temperature scenarios than official weather predictions suggest.
On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. On Polymarket, this event is priced as a set of outcome contracts representing different temperature ranges or specific thresholds for Taipei's high on June 4. Each contract trades independently, with its price reflecting the probability traders assign to that outcome. The market uses an automated market maker model, so prices adjust continuously as traders buy and sell shares. Liquidity and spreads depend on overall trading interest in this climate event.
The market resolves on Jun 4, 2026, after the highest temperature in Taipei on June 4 has been recorded and verified. Resolution is determined by official temperature data from a designated meteorological source, typically Taiwan's Central Weather Administration or equivalent authority. Once the actual high temperature is confirmed, the winning outcome contract is settled and traders receive payouts based on their positions.
Major weather pattern shifts, tropical storm systems, or monsoon activity affecting Taiwan could significantly alter temperature expectations. Updates from meteorological agencies forecasting unusual heat or cooler conditions will move odds. Seasonal climate anomalies, El Niño or La Niña developments, and real-time atmospheric pressure changes closer to June 4 will influence trader positioning. Historical temperature records for early June in Taipei also serve as reference points that traders monitor when reassessing probabilities.
