This event group asks about the highest temperature recorded in Taipei on June 16, 2026. Polymarket offers 11 binary contracts covering specific temperature points (25°C or below, 26–34°C in 1°C increments, and 35°C or higher), all sourced from Wunderground's Taipei Songshan Airport Station. Kalshi's contracts reference Philadelphia International Airport on June 14, 2026—a completely different location and date.
This market will resolve to the temperature range that contains the highest temperature recorded at the Taipei Songshan Airport Station in degrees Celsius on 16 Jun '26. The resolution source for this market will be information from Wunderground, specifically the highest temperature recorded for all times on this day for the Taipei Songshan Airport Station, available here: https://www.wunderground.com/history/daily/tw/taipei/RCSS. To toggle between Fahrenheit and Celsius, click the gear icon next to the search bar and switch the Temperature setting between °F and °C. This market can not resolve until the first data point for the following date has been published on the resolution source. The resolution source for this market measures temperatures to whole degrees Celsius (eg, 9°C). Thus, this is the level of precision that will be used when resolving the market. Revisions to temperatures recorded within this market's timeframe will be considered until the first datapoint for the following date has been published, after which any alterations will not be considered.
Resolution is determined by the highest temperature recorded at Philadelphia International Airport on June 14, 2026, as reported in the National Weather Service's Climatological Report (Daily). The event is divided into six temperature bands: below 88°F, 88-89°F, 90-91°F, 92-93°F, 94-95°F, and 96°F or above. Each band corresponds to a distinct outcome. The official NWS Climatological Report (Daily) serves as the authoritative data source; preliminary NWS reporting and other weather services may differ due to rounding and measurement methodology variations. Traders should exercise caution when interpreting preliminary data.
Prediction market odds distill collective trader expectations into live probabilities, whereas meteorological forecasts rely on physics-based models and historical data. Markets often react faster to new information and can reflect sentiment or risk appetite that pure models miss. For temperature events like this one, comparing market odds to official weather service forecasts can reveal where traders see model uncertainty or disagree with consensus. Both approaches have merit: models provide scientific grounding, while markets capture real-money conviction and edge-seeking behavior.
Polymarket and Kalshi can show different implied probabilities for the same outcome because of liquidity, fee structure, participant mix, and how each venue defines the contract. Each platform attracts different trader demographics, liquidity pools, and fee structures, which can push odds apart even on the same underlying event. Kalshi and Polymarket may also use slightly different outcome definitions or settlement timing, creating arbitrage opportunities. Market depth, recent order flow, and platform-specific incentives all influence pricing. Traders monitoring both venues can spot these gaps and potentially profit by trading the spread, which over time narrows the divergence.
Weather model updates, seasonal forecasts, and atmospheric pressure systems can all shift trader expectations before June 16 arrives. Major weather alerts, typhoon warnings, or heat advisories issued by Taiwan's meteorological authorities would likely trigger sharp repricing. Real-time satellite data and short-range forecast revisions in the days leading up to the event typically drive the most volatile moves. Additionally, trading activity from informed weather enthusiasts or professional meteorologists entering the market can signal new information and move odds significantly.
