Prediction market odds on Polymarket reflect aggregated trader expectations and often diverge from traditional meteorological forecasts. While weather analysts issue deterministic point estimates or narrow confidence bands, prediction markets price in uncertainty and tail risks across a continuous probability distribution. Comparing Polymarket implied probabilities to official Taiwan Meteorological Bureau forecasts or international weather models can reveal whether traders are pricing in more extreme outcomes or discounting certain scenarios. These differences highlight how markets incorporate real-time sentiment and information flows that may lag or lead institutional forecasts.

On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. On Polymarket, the highest temperature in Taipei on June 13 is priced as a set of outcome contracts, each representing a specific temperature range or threshold. Traders buy and sell shares reflecting their belief in which range will occur, with prices ranging from 0 to 1 cent per share. The implied probability of each outcome is derived from the order book and recent trade prices. Liquidity and spreads vary by outcome; more popular temperature ranges typically show tighter bid-ask spreads and higher trading volume, while extreme outcomes may have wider spreads and lower liquidity.

The market resolves on Jun 13, 2026, after the highest temperature in Taipei on June 13 has been recorded and verified. Resolution is determined by the official maximum temperature reading for that date from the designated meteorological authority. Once the data is published and confirmed, the winning outcome contract is settled at 1 cent per share, and all other outcomes are settled at zero. Traders holding shares in the correct temperature range receive their payout, while incorrect positions expire worthless.

Several factors can shift odds for Taipei's June 13 high temperature. Updated seasonal weather forecasts from meteorological agencies, tropical storm or typhoon warnings affecting East Asia, and historical temperature anomalies for that date will influence trader positioning. Real-time atmospheric pressure, humidity, and wind pattern data released in the days before June 13 can trigger sharp repricing. Urban heat island effects and local pollution levels may also be priced in. As the event date approaches, intraday weather updates and model consensus changes typically drive increased volatility and trading volume.
