Frequently asked questions

The Singapore temperature market dashboard on Polymarket tracks real-time odds and historical price movements for the highest temperature expected in Singapore on June 18. Traders buy and sell shares representing different temperature ranges, and the dashboard displays current probabilities, 24-hour volume activity, and order-book depth. This market aggregates collective forecasts from participants who believe they can predict the day's peak temperature more accurately than the consensus odds reflect. The interface updates continuously as new trades occur, allowing you to monitor how market sentiment shifts as the event date approaches.

Prediction market odds often diverge from traditional meteorological forecasts because they incorporate real-time trader behavior, risk appetite, and information beyond official weather models. While meteorologists issue deterministic or probabilistic forecasts based on atmospheric data, this market reflects what traders are willing to stake on specific temperature outcomes. Comparing the two reveals whether the crowd is pricing in more or less uncertainty than experts publicly estimate. Over time, prediction markets have demonstrated competitive accuracy against institutional forecasts, particularly when traders have strong incentives and access to emerging information. Monitoring both sources provides a fuller picture of temperature expectations.

On Polymarket, traders set prices by buying and selling shares tied to temperature ranges, with each share worth $1 if that outcome occurs. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The market price of each outcome reflects the collective probability traders assign to it—a higher price means traders view that temperature band as more likely. Liquidity pools or order books match buyers and sellers, and prices adjust dynamically as new information arrives or sentiment shifts. Your potential profit or loss depends on the entry price you pay and the final verified outcome, incentivizing accurate predictions and active price discovery.

This market resolves around Jun 18, 2026, once June 18 has passed and the highest temperature recorded in Singapore that day can be verified. The outcome is confirmed against credible public sources reporting the official peak temperature. Once verified, the shares corresponding to the correct temperature range are worth $1, and all other outcomes expire worthless. Early traders who correctly predicted the range lock in profits before resolution, while late entries face tighter odds. The exact timing of payout depends on when official data becomes available and the platform processes the settlement.

Major weather pattern shifts, tropical storm activity, or monsoon changes could significantly alter temperature expectations and move odds. Updated meteorological forecasts from regional weather agencies often trigger repricing as new data becomes available. Seasonal climate anomalies, such as unexpected heat waves or cooler-than-normal conditions, may shift trader positioning. Historical temperature records for June 18 in Singapore can anchor expectations, but unusual atmospheric conditions—El Niño effects, volcanic activity impacts, or urban heat island intensification—could surprise the market. As the event date approaches, intraday weather updates and real-time atmospheric observations typically drive final price adjustments.
