Frequently asked questions

On Polymarket, the Singapore temperature market dashboard tracks real-time odds and historical price movements for the highest temperature expected in Singapore on June 16. Traders use this interface to view current market sentiment, monitor 24-hour trading volume, and review how odds have shifted as new weather data emerges. The dashboard aggregates all buy and sell activity on this specific event, giving participants a live snapshot of what the crowd believes the peak temperature will reach on that date.

Prediction market odds often diverge from traditional meteorologist forecasts because they incorporate real-time trader positioning, risk appetite, and collective intelligence. While weather analysts rely on numerical models and historical patterns, this market reflects what thousands of participants are willing to stake money on. Comparing the implied temperature range from current odds to published forecasts from Singapore's Meteorological Service can reveal where the crowd sees upside or downside risk relative to expert consensus.

On Polymarket, traders set prices through an automated market maker that adjusts odds based on buy and sell volume. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. Each outcome—temperature ranges like 30–32°C, 32–34°C, and so on—has its own price, and the sum of all outcome probabilities equals 100%. As traders bet on their preferred range, the price of that outcome rises or falls, incentivizing arbitrage and discovery of the true market-implied temperature distribution.

This market resolves around Jun 16, 2026, once June 16 has passed and the highest temperature recorded in Singapore that day is confirmed. The outcome is verified against credible public sources to determine which temperature bracket was correct. Traders holding shares in the winning outcome receive their payout, while losing positions expire worthless. Resolution typically occurs within hours of the market end time, once official data is published.

Weather model updates, monsoon activity, and atmospheric pressure changes in the region can all shift odds significantly. Major weather alerts or unusual seasonal patterns may trigger repricing as traders reassess tail-risk scenarios. Real-time temperature readings in the days leading up to June 16 will narrow uncertainty and compress odds around the most likely outcome. Breaking news about regional climate anomalies or tropical systems could also spark sharp moves in this market.
